Acceptance and Commitment Therapy -ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy aims to connect you to what you value, that is how you want to be in life – in relationships, work, play, health and any other areas of life that are important to you. Sometimes emotions and thoughts can get in the way of being the sort of person you aspire to be. ACT recognises that you cannot control what emotions or thoughts show up. But you can control how you choose to act and what you do when they show up. ACT teaches you ways of handling emotions and thoughts so that what you value (that is how you want to be) is determining your actions, rather than what you are feeling or thinking.
