Self Help Books using the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Approach

These are books I often use with my clients when doing ACT because they are exceptional self-help resources.

“The Happiness Trap” Stop Struggling. Start living. by Russ Harris Exisle publishing. 2007

“The Confidence Gap: From Fear to Freedom” by Russ Harris is an ACT-based approach to confidence, success and peak performance in sport, business, arts, or social life.  You can download the introduction here.

“The Reality Slap: How To Find Fulfilment When Life Hurts” by Russ Harris is all about using ACT to deal with major losses, crises, disasters - such as death, divorce, bankruptcy, disability, serious illness or injury, etc - with a major emphasis on developing self-compassion. “The Mindfulness & Acceptance Workbook for Anxiety – A Guide to Breaking Free from Anxiety, Phobias & Worry Using Acceptance & Commitment Therapy” by JP Forsyth & GH Eifert, New Harbinger Pub Inc., 2007.
